Houston

Houston, Texas is the fifth-largest city in the United States and has all the amenities you would expect from a major metropolitan area, including world-class dining, a thriving arts and theatre district, several national sports teams, and a large Museum District with 19 museums. It is also home to the Texas Medical Center, originally founded by MD Anderson in 1945 and now among the largest medical centers in the world with more than a thousand acres and more than 50 medicine-related institutions.

Houston is the most cosmopolitan city in the state of Texas with its own Chinatown and multi-cultural markets and restaurants of many different nationalities. It is also home to annual Lunar New Year, Diwali and Holi festivals.

Those in search of vibrant nightlife need look no further than one of Houston's many entertainment districts, including glitzy Galleria/Uptown, eclectic Rice Village, up-and-coming Montrose, theater-rich Downtown, or trendy Midtown. Concert-goers have their choice of several large venues, including Bayou Music Center, Houston Toyota Center, Reliant Park and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion (a.k.a. "The Woodlands"). Opportunities for oenophiles abound with a number of wine bars to suit every palette, as well as frequent focused tastings and wine appreciation festivals.

Emigrants to the Houston area enjoy all the aforementioned benefits while simultaneously finding reasonable commutes and some of the most affordable housing and property available in a major city. Houston is also an excellent place to raise a family with kid-friendly activities and establishments such as the Houston Zoo, Children's Museum, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Downtown Aquarium, and Johnson Space Center.
